Plot[edit]
A Aa revolves around the lives of 23-year old Anasuya Ramalingam (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) and Aanand Vihari (Nithiin) and their families. Aanand, a former chef, Runs an E-food business in Hyderabad. He belongs to a middle-class family and has many responsibilities to fulfill, like marrying off his sister Bhanumathi (Ananya) and paying off debts.

Aanand happens to be her cousin but she doesn’t know about his family till she is sent there. While she happily discovers the joy of being at her aunt’s house, she comes to know that Aanand is being forced to marry Nagavalli (Anupama Parameswaran) by her father Pallam Venkanna (Rao Ramesh). But he had agreed to marry her only after Bhanu's marriage. Anasuya and Bhanu also become good friends. Comedy scenes take place when she asks for an A.C. and a T.V. For which he unlikingly buys her 90,000 T.V. and gives a stick and rope to open and close window which is equal to A.C. at night. One day when Nagavalli comes their house and indirectly shows attitude to Anasuya, she gets angry and asks Aanand because he had carried her that day because she refused to eat dinner for which he does it again and this time she shows attitude.

But Gopal (Srinivasa Reddy), Mahalakshmi's secretary, calls Mahalakshmi and reveals everything. Her father understands this and calls Aanand and asks him to bring Anasuya and Mangamma back before Mahalakshmi comes from Chennai. Anasuya now realises her love for Aanand when he drops her in time. However, Mahalakshmi has already arranged her to marry a rich guy Shekhar(Srinivas Avasarala). As two times their meeting cancels, Anasuya is forced to meet him at golf course. She accidentally hits the ball on his head and the other worker's head. When she goes to the hospital to visit, she runs into Aanand. He reveals that he came here because Pallam Venkanna had harshly talked about Bhanu not getting married as she has no status and asked him to marry Nagavalli at the end of the month. This had hurt his mother and she is now hospitalized. Anasuya is happy to see him. However, her plans are crushed after Nagavalli and Pallam Venkanna arrive. Nagavalli again starts getting close to Aanand and this angers Anasuya She pleads Aanand to let Bhanu come and stay with her. Aanand agrees but gives permission for only for one day.
Anasuya brings her home and reveals to Mahalakshmi that Bhanu is Aanand's sister. Mahalakshmi initially refuses to let Bhanu in,but agrees later. She reveals that she had taken a loan from Aanand's father for business and when she came to return the money, they had refused and closed the door on her face. She warns Anasuya to be careful with Bhanu. That night Bhanu sees Shekhar's photo and says he is good looking. Anasuya again gains an idea and next day takes her to a mall and makes a deal with Bhanu that since, she had canceled her marriage, Bhanu owes her and should do the same for her,for which Bhanu agrees. Anasuya again meets Aanand in the mall. She also comes across her mother's friend Latha (Sana) and is caught with Aanand but is relieved when she sees Latha having an extra-marital affair with Raghu (Raghu Babu) although she is married.Pallam Venkanna's brother Pallam Narayana (Posani Krishna Murali) also comes across them but Aanand manages to divert him. Meanwhile, Shekhar falls for Bhanu. But his grandfather mistakes Bhanu for Anasuya and arranges for their marriage. Anasuya proposes to Aanand who reveals that Mahalakshmi refusing to give back the money she borrowed, was the reason for his father's death. Mahalakshmi discovers that Shekhar loves Bhanu and not her daughter and locks her up. This angers Anasuya who meets Aanand and urges him to elope with her. He refuses and this angers her more and she starts walking aimlessly. She gets kidnapped by Pallam Venkanna's henchmen. Aanand brings her back in time for her engagement with Shekar and takes Bhanu with him. He reveals to Bhanu that he loves Anasuya, and she urges him to reveal the truth to Anasuya. He goes back and does so saying that he will keep her happy in anyway she wants and takes her. Mahalakshmi demands A Anand to let go of her daughter for which he says that she had gone to give money on the burning day of his father and she is the reason for his death and takes Anasuya with him.
When Anasuya and Aanand reach his house, she is surprised to see her parents there. Her father reveals that, as soon as Anasuya and Aanand lefy, Mahalakshmi had a heart attack and he changed her mind about them. And the relationship between her mother and Anasuya is also good now. Aanand catches a mouse says that there is no one to trouble her anymore leaving him for which she laughs.
Pallam Venkanna sees that Nagavalli is happily eating chicken and not worried about Aanand and Anasuya. She says that if one day they are separated, he will come to her only to marry. Plot[edit]
Abhiram (Nagarjuna Akkineni) is a manager in an ad agency owned by his paternal uncle Prasad (Tanikella Bharani). He despises women and expresses his hatred every minute of the day. However, his workplace is populated by women and he has to deal with it. Prasad, the chairman of the company, appoints Harika (Sonali Bendre) as the new creative director and Abhiram hates that yet another female employee has joined his office. He places a bug under her desk and uses it to steal her idea for a lipstick ad. He later accuses her of plagiarism, belittling her and questioning her originality. Eventually Harika gets fed up of Abhi’s verbal abuse and goes to Prasad to submit her resignation. Prasad asks her to think about it and tells her about Abhiram's past and why he despises women.
Abhi lost his parents when he was only 2 years old and his grandfather (M. Balaiah) raises him. Abhi is the only heir to their family business and he enjoys life in his own carefree way. He meets and falls in love with Maheswari (Anshu), who is the niece of an employee (Chandra Mohan) in Abhi's grandfather's company. Alarmed that Abhi is just playing around with his niece, Maheshwari's uncle takes her away to his hometown and arranges her engagement with another man. Abhi goes to where Maheswari is and attempts to assure her uncle that he is going to marry her and that he's serious about their relationship. But on the way to his grandfather's home, they meet with a serious accident, resulting in Abhi's loss of consciousness. When Abhi wakes up, his grandfather tells him that Maheswari has married another person, showing him the invitation card. Abhi feels cheated and starts to hate all women, thinking that they are all superficial and treacherous.
After listening to this, Harika feels sympathy towards Abhi's pain and his child-like mind. She decides to stay with the company and Prasad promotes her as manager and demotes Abhi to being assistant manager for some time. Though infuriated, Abhi has no choice travel with Harika to Paris on a business trip. There they become close and Harika helps him with his phobia of water. Abhi starts to fall for Harika but is disappointed and distances himself from her when she reveals that she is engaged to be married.
After they come back to India, Abhi behaves in a childish manner to get over his disappointment. Harika reciprocates his feelings but is confused about getting married as Abhi won't express his feelings to her. Meanwhile, Abhi's aunt (Sudha) reveals that Maheswari actually died in the accident they were in and they hid that information fearing that Abhi might not be able to recover from the shock of hearing such horrific news. Abhi realizes it was foolish of him to hate women but is too shocked to express his feelings to Harika. At last, Harika tells Abhi that her future marriage was her parents’ choice not hers, indirectly indicating that she is ready to come to him if he asks. Prasad comes to know that Abhi and Harika have feelings for each other and encourages Abhi to go and confess his feelings. But Abhi says that it is Harika who should say it and not him because previously as he did everything as he wanted, he lost Maheshwari. Finally, Harika confesses her feelings over a phone call but due to network disturbance, Abhi isn't able to reply. Thinking that Abhi rejected her, she continues to go for her marriage. But in the end,Abhi reaches her and asks her to marry him and she breaks her previous engagement and marries him.

Review[edit]
Often being termed as one of Devi Sri Prasad's finest works, the music got rave reviews and went out to become a huge success commercially.
Reception[edit]
The movie received highly positive critical feedback. Particularly, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Trivikram Srinivas and Devi Sri Prasad received rave reviews for their respective works in this film. Popular reviewing website Idlebrain rated 4.5 out of 5 stating 'When director and hero have latest hits behind their back, the comparison is inevitable. This film is definitely better than Santosham (Nagarjuna's earlier film). Manmadhudu is as good as Nuvvu Naaku Nachav (Vijaya Bhaskar's earlier film). First half of the film is extremely entertaining (total comedy + flashback romance). And second half (comedy + story) is even better than first half. 95% of the scenes in the film are comedy dialogues. There are few sentiment scenes. But these very few sentiment scenes are bound to leave impact on you. Nagarjuna dominated the show and won accolades from audiences. It's a must recommended hilarious film for all Telugu film lovers.'[3] Another popular reviewing website Sify gave an extremely positive review and wrote 'Though the story is wafer thin, the director has been able to package the film well with an innovative presentation. Nagarjuna and Sonali are excellent and have played their roles with conviction. The music of Devi Sri Prasad is hummable. The film is out to wallop some fun ‘n’ frolic.', giving a verdict that it is a 'Rip-Roaring Entertainer'.[4] Another reviewing website fullhyd.com gave a positive review stating 'Nagarjuna lends significantly to the character of Abhiram in one of his slickest cinematic performances ever. He perfectly captures the liveliness, complexity and frustration of Abhiram. Unquestionably, Manmathudu proves to be an enthralling vehicle for his crowd-pleasing comeback. Sonali gives a commendable performance as a young and struggling art director who is in love with Abhiram. Devi Sri Prasad's romantic and sometimes ominous musical score nicely complements the images on screen. The dialogues, penned by Trivikram, are chronically mind-boggling. Manmathudu gratifies on many levels. The direction maintains pace and intrigue, the performances are spot on, and the locations are simply sumptuous, be it Smokey Alps or a clean Hyderabad road. All things considered, if you can stomach the thirty minutes of echoing flashback, Manmathudu makes for one intense and rousing entertainment, and if you're on its quirky wavelength, it might just strike you as one of the funniest movies you've ever seen!'[5]
